You just take the smaller number (whether it's negative or positive) and subtract it from the greater number. Then the answer takes the sign of the greater number. For example: number 1: -7+(+12)= 12-7= +5 (+5) is the answer.

umm .. wow. think back to 1st grade when they taught you how to add on a number line. 2 + 2 = 4 They had you find the "2", and then move 2 more to the right, to find 4. This is about the same thing, except you're dealing with negative numbers. Other than that, it's the same. adding you move right up the number line, subtractive you move left down the number line. So #1: -7 + 12 start at 7 left of zero, and move right 12. So you get 5 (passing zero so you're into positive numbers) When you're adding a negative number, it's the same as subtracting it. so , #5: 0 + (-6) is the same as 0 - 6 And subtracting a negative number is the same as adding it, but you don't have any examples of that here. Try them out and see if what I said helps.

if one number is positive and the other negative then subtract if both are positive add and if both numbers are negative then add. for the 1st do 12-7 for the 2nd > 35-1 for the 3rd >10 +12 with a negative answer for the 4th > 6+5 with a negative answer for the 5th > 0-6
