I have worked the problems but there was 2 that I wasn't a 100% sure about and 1 that I didn't know what it meant.
1) 7(-2 +1)/3 - -6(2-4)/1-(-4)
and I got -47/15
2) 9/16 - (-3/4)
and I got 15/16
3) Two numbers have a sum (means to add) of 71. If one number is x, represent the other number as an algebraic expression in x.
Okay thanks I understand where I went wrong with the first two but the last one. Wouldn't it be 71+ x since it said the sum which means to add not subtract. I'm confused.

I'll just assume it's something like [7(-2+1)]/3 - [-6(2-4)]/[1-(-4)] Let's work within the parentheses first. So, then we have: [7(-1)]/3 - [-6(-2)]/[1-(-4)] Next, let's multiply: (-7)/3 - 12/[1-(-4)] Then let's subtract and simplify: (-7/3) - (12/5) Then we'll find a common denominator of 15: (-35/15) - (36/15) Which equals -71/15.
