Vietnam and Iraq. America's cycle of laissez-faire and government regulation. The Red Scare after both WWI and WWII. Sorry, I taught U.S. History last semester so I can only think of things U.S. History wise. Anyway, good luck!

they had better stop, or they will destroy themselves. We couldn’t possibly destroy the Republican Party, but we don’t need to try. It is being destroyed from within. 1. Carl Rove and his “throw everything, every day” tactics turned off a lot of people. 2. The religious fanatics still have too much power. 3. The bigots haven't been encouraged to HIT THE ROAD THEREFORE: If these problems are not fixed, the Republican Party will DIE. WHY? THERE WILL BE A MASS EXODUS OF MODERATES TO THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY. AND THE REMAINDER OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY WILL DROWN IN ITS OWN BILE

How do you figure he is the most scrutinized? We knew all about Bush's military record, his former drinking problem, his drunk driving conviction from decades ago, his military record, his college test scores and class ranking. What do we know about Obama? We are not allowed to see his birth certificate (not the same as certificate of live birth) we are not allowed to see his school records, heck we are not even allowed to read his thesis. We have never heard from anyone who knew him in school, no one who used to hang around with him, in fact, we know more about Bristol Palin than we do about our Commander-in-Chief. Policy-wise, his policy is in direct conflict with the Constitutional restrictions that limit Federal Power, he has no advisers that have any real experience but rather a boat load of academics and life long government careerists. He brings no executive experience to bear and cannot even speak to an issue without his teleprompter telling him what to say. He passed a bunch of Executive Orders that are supposed to be his own work (thus the name) but could not answer simple questions about them without first checking with his attorney. He consistantly says one thing (usually what people want to hear) but does another (usually what people do not want). He violated many of his own promises such as the one about not allowing lobyists to serve in his administration, being open and transparent, being above suspicion of corruption then cannot find a single person who is not in violation of the tax code to lead the IRS? Come on! If you ask me, this guy could do with a whole lot more scrutiny. *

I don't know if this is what your looking for or not. The Civil War and the Civil Rights Movement ended exactly 100 years apart, in 1865 and 1965 respectively. The most important speech during the Civil War was President Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address (1863). The key speech of the Civil Rights Movement was Martin Luther King’s “I Have A Dream!”(1963) They are separated by precisely 100 years, and they each proclaimed the same thing, liberty for African Americans.
