Question: i have everything except the concluding paragraph. throughout the essay, i had to disagree with the above statement. any ideas? i'm really bad at english class, so i will probably have some more questions pertaining to the subject of english in the near and distant future. In 1994, the Long Beach Unified School District in California adopted a mandatory uniform policy throughout the district. It was reported that since the passing of the uniform policy the overall crime rate in Long Beach has dropped by 91%; school suspensions have went down by 90%; and incidents of vandalism decreased by 69%. What researchers failed to mention though, was how the students felt about the new uniforms. Personally, I do not believe that students should be required to wear uniforms. Yes, the amount of wrongdoing might decrease, but the students will suffer by other means. By making students wear uniforms, you are taking away their independence. If you take away what makes them unique, then how will they express themselves? Benjamin Franklin once stated that, “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.” In other words, if you give up students’ independence to earn them little protection from crime, then you do not deserve your own independence and safety. Distinctiveness is the lifeblood of school’s social system. If individuality is taken away from the students, then no one will be able to distinguish a jock from a bookworm. Traditionally, jocks and bookworms are extremely easy to tell apart, but only because of their clothes. If they have to wear the same thing, then the bookworm may end up on the field and lose the game for his. Likewise, the jock may end up taking classes far above his understanding. Most uniforms cost quite a bit. The price for a school uniform can range from fifty dollars to $275 for just one uniform. A kid will probably wear five uniforms in a regular school week. For that reason, a parent could spend around $250 to $1375 on a single child’s uniform. Think about the parents who can scarcely afford to send their kids to public school. Schools that have mandatory uniforms will send children home if they come to school without a uniform. If uniforms become mandatory, how will these parents provide education for their children? I am unfaltering in my opinion about school uniforms, seeing that I am a student myself. If I were to be required to wear a uniform, I would feel that my freedom to convey my personality would be suppressed. No matter whom you are, people express their personality through their clothes; unless they are required to wear uniforms. On days when I feel confident, I would wear new clothes. If I felt apprehensive or anxious, I would wear comfortable clothes. Should the time come when I have to wear a uniform, I would not be able to wear cloths that would allow me to express my personality. thats the whole essay, minus the conclusion

Consider-- *Uniforms hinder students from learning to make appropriate wardrobe choices *Uniforms are generally more expensive than regular "street clothes" *Uniforms are often quite unattractive (plaid = UGH!!) *Uniforms often make students look heavier than they are *Uniforms can be immodest for young ladies (our school has full skirt uniforms, and it gets very tough when it's windy!) *I am not sure it has been conclusively proven that uniforms have the positive effects on education that their supporters claim Just some ideas...hope they help (Of course, there are benefits to uniforms as well, but you are arguing the negative side, so I didn't list any positives)

I would think since the name is Penn State University that there is a 100% chance that it is a STATE school. The tuition for "in-state" means that it is cheaper for students from PA. This is because the school is supported by taxes from the state and thus offers cheaper tuition rates. If you want to attend this school and you are not from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, you will pay much more money. See what the requirements are for establishing in-state status.

That's difficult to answer without seeing the rest of the essay. The job of a conclusion is to round off the essay and close any loose ends, make sure that it sounds complete. Look at your introduction, think about the points you made in your body and see if there is anything you can add to your intro. If you told a story in your intro you might close it in your conclusion.

Here's the story: and yes, I know what I'm talking about, I go to MHS. The reason why all the pics are messed up is because Mrs. O, our yearbook administrator wanted everyone's head at the same level because Lifetouch screwed up and can't take decent photos. Anyway, the people at Taylor publishing were moving things around and they made people's hair shorter and/ or longer and switched people's bodies so they would all be level. Taylor publishing most def. needs some Photoshop lessons. We're all getting new yearbooks and we also get to keep the "messed up ones". And yeah, what does this have to do with homeland security????
