Question: Ok so every night my anxiety flares up big time. I read that anxiety can cause muscle tension and a lot of other physical symptoms. I always develop headaches or pressure in the head. Then I tend to worry that it is something serious. I have a hard time sleeping at night. I'm always worried something bad will happen. I think it might be because I'm alone at night. What can I do to just calm down? I hate going through this every night.

Make sure your bedroom is a place for sleeping, not for watching TV or doing homework, because eventually, you will go in your room, and feel tired just because it's where you do nothing but sleep. Do something relaxing before bed, like listen to calming music, taking a bath, or reading a book. The night before a test, don't stress, and try to go to sleep early, instead of cramming (cramming actually makes you forget stuff you used to know). Buying a baby night time bath or wash might help you relax before bed (the lavender smell is actually really calming).

If it doesn't need to all be done for tomorrow, personally, I would call it a day. Take some pills and call it a day. If it does all need to be done for tomorrow, then I don't know what to tell you. Could you take a short nap, or maybe sleep for a few hours, then wake up and finish it in the early hours of the morning? Because, I don't think you'll be able to complete it if you're in this state. There should be some cause or thought that will be giving you anxiety. But, you can do one thing. Take long and deep breath for some time. Lie down and focus your attention to each and every part of your body and feel the sensations. Relax each part by giving autosuggestion to your mind. Concentrate on your normal, natural breath and sleep.

What helps me is falling asleep to funny things. Like reading funny apps on my phone until I fall asleep or watching a sitcom. It sounds weird but I use to get anxiety too and I found things that would make me smile or laugh helped lighten things up enough for me to stop stressing or panicking and then I get tired and fall asleep. Its worth a try.

You see, when we allow worries to overwhelm us, we're actually saying to ourselves that God must not love us, and He must not be watching over us. But this isn't true! God loves you far more than you can ever imagine—and the proof is that He was willing to send His Son into the world to die for your sins and rise from the dead for you. He loves you so much that He wants you to spend eternity with Him in heaven. The Bible says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7). I challenge you to put these words into action—for when you do, God's peace will begin to overcome your worries. Take a hot bath (not to get clean, just to relax) before bed. Drink a cup of chamomile tea. Spraying lavender scented spray on your pillow can help you relax.

Try not to care what or how others think about you. Generally, school isn't as bad as society or television make it out to be. How could you not dress right? Dress how you want, dear. That's what counts! I dressed in the most odd duckling way, but it made people like me more. Yeah, some people talked down about it at times but it didn't bother me, because I was comfortable in what I wore and I loved how I looked in it! :) What's your personality like? Reflect your personality in your clothes. Everyone is judged by what they wear, whether they think they are or not. Your clothing is a reflection of you in one way or another. so try it out! What appeals to you? Try it on. Do you like how it looks on you? Yes? Keep it! No, but it conforms to what every one else is wearing? DON'T GET IT. The key is to wear what makes you feel good, whether it's a brand-new outfit or a comfy old sweater. School is pretty easy, just ask for help when you need it and don't be afraid to put yourself out there. Try activities, go for clubs. You never know, you might find your true profession some how. Trust me, I regret not doing any clubs or school activities. It also helps ya meet new people you may not have ever met otherwise. Pack your backpack the night before. If I were you, I'd keep extra notebook paper and pencils in your locker. Also, consider having a three or five subject notebook SOLELY for notes. It's important to take notes, but you're only going in 7th grade so it's not as necessary, but it sure does help! Each school has a different opening-day drill. Some start with homeroom or an assembly, but others may jump right into the first-period class. You'll meet your new teachers, and they'll probably give you an overview of the course syllabus, class rules, what the semester will be like, what supplies you'll need, and expectations of your performance and behavior. Some teachers will jump right into their first lesson, while others may have non-coursework activities planned. It all depends on the class and teacher. School's a great place if you let it be. Don't let people bring you down, because if they're trying to, well, it means you're already above them! :) Focus on SCHOOL. SCHOOL. SCHOOL. And have fun with it! School is very important. And if you're like me, someone that has trouble gaining motivation to do homework, try setting up a routine. Or getting as much done in class. Sometimes I finished my assignments at lunch, or during study period. Then it's not as much of a hassle to finish it once you're home! Good luck, don't worry, and have fun :).
