Why does the Catholic religion oppose Homosexuality although they frequently practice it?
Topic: Why does the Catholic religion oppose Homosexuality although they frequently practice it?
June 24, 2019 / By Anngela Question:
I mean seriously, within the last year I've heard dozens of cases of old creepy men called priests (their low level leader in worship) having affairs with little boys. Then their almighty leader called the Pope, who resides in a country known as the Vatican that resides in a city called Rome, has ceased to do next to nothing about cleansing the church of its corruption.

There are homosexuals among all clergy. Actually it is practiced less among Catholic clergy than other ecclesiastical groups.
You may want to do some study about the Church reforms to stop any wrongdoing among priests. The actions of the Church should be a model for all other ecclesiastical groups. God bless!

Originally Answered: Why is abortion against the Catholic Religion?
Catholics believe that from the moment of conception until natural death, each human being is endowed by God with dignity and rights. Therefore abortion is viewed as the murder of an innocent and defenseless human being.
You shall not kill. (Ex 20:13; cf. Deut 5:17)
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you. (Jer 1:5; cf. Job 10:8-12; Ps 22:10-11)
My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately wrought in the depths of the earth. (Ps 139:15)
Early Church writings: You shall not kill the embryo by abortion and shall not cause the newborn to perish. (Didache 2, 2: SCh 248, 148; cf. Ep. Barnabae 19, 5: PG 2, 777; Ad Diognetum 5, 6: PG 2, 1173; Tertullian, Apol. 9: PL 1, 319-320)

Dozens? Sounds rather minor compared to all these sexual abuses I hear coming out of the Assembly of God, Southern Baptists, Church of the Nazarene and non denominational churches.
Last there there was under 30 priests accused, less than 10 found to be legitimate after investigation.
Pope Benedict is pretty strict on this matter compared to Pope John Paul II. Benedict isn't so forgiving. Since he became pope, if a priest is simply accused, they lose there priestly duties until an investigation is complete. If found to be true, the priest is excommunicated. If found innocent the priest regains priestly duties.
If it is a something that is criminal(other words outside a civil lawsuit related to an adult making an accusation against a priest that happened many several years before) then the church is required to turn the priest over to the authorities.

1.book reference for real% of catholic priest abusing children 2. What the pope has done 3. What the church has done
4. Homosexuality views 5. Views on homosexuality in church leaders
1 You would be surprised on the numbers. The is a book by an ex-catholic named philip jenkins where he talks about the real numbers of priest, pastors, teachers, of all sorts of religions and the averages of them molesting children. The media is skewed to put the catholics on then the episcopalian since they call their priests father too, then teachers, then reverends and pastors. For numbers you should reference him because he has gathered the facts together.(to give you a clue the rates among catholic priest is less that many Protestant denominations in percent of spiritual leaders that sexually abuse. and if you don't believe then ask the ex-catholic)
2 What the Pope has done
The Pope has sent out many letters to those that were abused asking to see them and apologize. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,3516...
He has visited many countries other than the U.S. and I found a news link that showed the people he visited and how positive the impact was but as time goes on it gets harder to find this positive story.
3 What the Church has done sadly
The Church not only finally acted to change things that should have started once the sexual revolution of the 70s started with free love. But now they have over reacted. Priest can't even hug children if a family knows them and the child comes to give him the hug. He is supposed to be the father in that church but he can't even express that to the degree he should. It is sad for this is what priest fear now because if a priest is suspected there are bishop that are to afraid to say that these loving men are probably innocent, no many have left the priest out to the sharks of media that want one more priest scandal because it is a high rating subject.
4. we believe the same definition that same definition for intercourse love as we always have. It is inherently made for the purpose of child birth. The intercourse symbolizes the Holy Trinity. The Father loves Jesus so much and the Son for the Father that the love exchange in itself is so beautiful that manifest a nature called the Holy Spirit. They all love each other. So mommy loves daddy and from that love comes babies. (not blocking the loving birth of children) While there is purely pleasure to be gained through contraception and homosexual intercourse.
5. abuse is not homosexuality in all cases but if it is the case they are not meant to enact their sexual desires. Matthew 19:12 is a definite representation of a call to celibacy to serve as a priest. If they break this they are in trouble seriously and once they do so they are often moved to another parish after they are presumed to be healed but the sexual revolution brought a perverted set of priest that so free peace love and the innocence of a child whom they can easily control.
I am sorry for those that are offended by my statements on love but to me that is something for only two people that are truly sure that they would make good parents with each other and that age as well as this age no longer push that first but say that the sex drive is something like our nature as if a woman in heat would truly let a man just jump on her without thinking what is he going to later like having flaws like abusiveness to children, alcoholism, drug addiction, emotionally abusive.

In every population of human beings are going to a few sick or evil people who commit horrible crimes, even in the Church.
The percentage of pedophiles in the clergy of the Catholic Church is actually less than that of society in general.
These few terrible people do not negate the faith, hope and love of over one billion Catholics.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families report "Child Maltreatment 2006" states that sexual abuse by Catholic clergy was less than one-half of one percent of all cases.
The report states that the perpetrators relationship to the victim was:
29.1% were Other Relatives
26.2% were Parents
24.4% were Others
6.9% were Unknown or Missing People
6.1% were Unmarried Partners of Parent
4.4% were Friends or Neighbors
1.8% were Child Daycare Providers
0.5% were Other Professionals
0.3% were Foster Parents
0.3% were Residential Facility Staff
0.1% were Legal Guardians
All clergy is a subset of Other Professionals and Catholic clergy is a subset of all clergy. http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/cb/pubs/...

The 2009 Annual Report prepared by the Catholic bishops identifies 14 allegations of childhood sexual abuse in the U.S. Catholic Church in the 10 years from 2000 to 2009. Please note that there were 65,600,000 Catholics in the U.S. in 2010. http://www.usccb.org/ocyp/annual_report/...
The 2007 Associated Press investigation identifies 2,570 public school teachers who, from 2001 through 2005, had their teaching licenses "taken away, denied, surrendered voluntarily, or restricted" because of sexual misconduct with minors.

Frequently isnt the word i would use, since the actual accounts of priests doing this compared to the vast numbers of people who profess to be catholic, is rather few.
And the religion does preach against it. Whether or not the imperfect people actually decide to obey is another thing entirely.

Originally Answered: hey it is for people who cross the mexico border frequently?
First thing is where you cross. Some of the border crossings does not have a waiting time. These are the small ones.
Second thing is are you crossing in a private car, public transportation (bus), walking, or the only international hand drawn ferry in the world (Los Ebanos, Texas).
I will admit that it does take longer now than before 9/11, but not by that much; except during rush hours at the border.
